Similan is a Yawi word meaning “nine”, that’s why it’s called island number 9.
The Similan Islands consist of nine islands located from north to south, with the main tourist attractions being Koh Miang (Island #4), Koh Payu (Island #7), Koh Similan (Island #8) and Koh Ba Ngu (Island #9).
These islands are famous for their beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters so clear that you can see the fish underwater with the naked eye. This is why Similan is ranked among the ten most beautiful islands in the world.
