The Elephant Sanctuary is an ethical and sustainable eco-tourism project based in Thailand. The Sanctuary currently cares for elephants in four provinces of the country (Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Koh Samui).
It is the hope of the Sanctuary to lead by example and contribute to a positive change in the perception of elephants, to witness a future where elephants are not poached, ridden, overworked or mistreated, but treated with care, love and respect.

4 different programs are available :

Program 1 : Half day (approx. 3h)

Pick up at your hotel
Educational introduction to the anatomy, behavior and history of elephants
Feed, interact, photograph and observe elephants in a natural environment
Participate in a routine physical examination of an elephant in a natural environment
Bathing with the elephants
Join the elephants for a rejuvenating mud treatment
Enjoy a delicious traditional Thai meal

Program 2 : One day (approx 7h)

Pick up at your hotel
Educational introduction to the anatomy, behavior and history of elephants
Feed, interact, photograph and observe elephants in a natural environment
Accompany the elephants into the jungle and observe them as they forage for food at their own pace.
Enjoy a delicious traditional Thai meal
Participate in a routine physical examination of an elephant in a natural environment
Bathing with the elephants
Join the elephants for a rejuvenating mud treatment

Program 3 : “Feed me” Experience (1h)

Feed and watch the elephants
Enjoy a drink in the sanctuary cafe

Program 4 : “Feed & Shower” Experience (approx 2h)

Pick up at your hotel
Educational introduction to the anatomy, behavior and history of elephants
Feed, interact, photograph and observe elephants in a natural environment
Shower with our elephants in a custom built outdoor shower

Transfer

Transport included only for program 1 and 2 for the areas: Kata, Karon, Patong, Bang Tao, Surin Beach, Rawai, Chalong, Cape Panwa, Cape Tukkae, Koh Sire, Laemhin, Phromthep Cape or Nai Harn Beach.

The Sanctuary

The Elephant Sanctuary tour is Phuket’s most ethical sanctuary, offering curious visitors a unique opportunity to interact with beautiful elephants in the safety and security of their natural habitat. With qualified English-speaking guides who give visitors insight into the behavior and personal history of our animals, while mahouts help people achieve incredible life experiences, such as bathing Phuket elephants or hand feeding them.

The sanctuary itself offers stunning views of the beaches and jungles, which visitors can enjoy at their own pace. The elephants are more than happy to let their new friends enjoy the view or take a few pictures to make sure everyone remembers this trip to Phuket.

Throughout your visit to the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, you will feed, bathe and even play with the animals. You can even tell all your friends that you swam with elephants in Phuket! It is also important to us that you learn as much as possible about these animals and why it is important to protect them. As an ethical sanctuary in Phuket, we want to promote the ethical treatment of these beautiful animals worldwide. With the money the Sanctuary raises from visits and donations, they can contribute to their welfare by rescuing them, feeding them, providing veterinary care and giving them land and infrastructure to live on.
